The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has accused the government of planning to privatize newly established medical colleges, calling it a large-scale corruption scandal. Former Minister V. Rajini highlighted that the YSRCP government had invested approximately ₹8,500 crore to set up 17 new medical colleges to enhance medical education and super-specialty services in the state. However, only 50 MBBS seats were available in one new college this year, with the government rejecting 50 seats for another. Ms. Rajini emphasized that under the YSRCP, five colleges were opened by 2023-24, with more planned for the future.
