Meghalaya Government to Regulate Medical Colleges

The Meghalaya government will introduce an Act to regulate both government and private medical colleges in the state.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved the PA Sangma International Medical College at the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) to offer MBBS courses.

This college will be the first private medical institution in Meghalaya, starting its MBBS program in the 2024-25 academic year with a capacity of 150 students.

Future Meetings Planned: Additional meetings will be held to outline future actions regarding medical college regulation.

The Shillong Medical College project is on track for completion by the 2025-26 academic year.

Infrastructure development for Tura Medical College is progressing rapidly.
