Call to Reduce Eligibility Fees for TN PG Medical Courses

Doctors who completed their MBBS abroad are calling on Tamil Nadu’s health department to reduce the high fees for eligibility certificates required for applying to PG medical courses. The Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University charges Rs 30,000 for foreign graduates, compared to Rs 1,888 for domestic graduates. Many medical graduates find this fee prohibitive and have yet to apply for PG counselling. The Tamil Nadu Medical Students Association-Foreign Medical Graduates (TNMSA-FMG) has petitioned the health secretary, and a positive response has been received. The disparity in fees remains a significant barrier for those seeking to continue their medical education in India.
